Animal Facility

The primary purpose of the Animal Shared Resource is to provide researchers with facilities for housing and maintaining laboratory animals. Experienced staff perform all aspects of animal husbandry and assist researchers with specialized procedures and protocol development.

Animal & Tissue Imaging Facility

The Animal & Tissue Imaging Shared Resource provides both expertise and access to state-of-the-art non-invasive imaging modalities, tissue imaging, and pathology. This Resource allows researchers to visualize a broad range of parameters without invasive or terminal procedures, obtain high quality tissue sections, and access extensive pathology services.

Antibody & Phage Display Facility

The Antibody & Phage Display Shared Resource provides a central site for the production of antibodies for research using a highly efficient and cost-effective method. This resource uses both phage display technology and classical hybridoma development protocols. The phage display branch of the shared resource provides the reagents and expertise to carry out the selection of Fabs (antibody fragments) against purified protein. This new technology is capable of rapidly producing high-affinity synthetic antibodies in a manner that complements existing expertise in classical hybridoma development and antibody production and purification. The shared resource maintains a library of all hybridomas generated, and will provide cell lines or antibody preparation from stored lines on request.

The Bioinformatics Shared Resource (BSR) provides essential services and technical support for Next Generation Sequencing analysis. From providing advice at the planning stages of data-intensive experiments to developing customized software tools for analyzing data, the BSR works closely with members to support research projects. The BSR is happy to guide members in using web-based interfaces to access sophisticated computational tools, enabling researchers to do much of the analysis on their own.

Cryo EM

Recent advances in Cryo-Electron Microscopy (cryo-EM) have made it possible to visualize extremely complex biological systems, providing novel molecular insight into human biology and disease. Cryo-EM has become an essential structural biology tool, enabling the determination of 3D structures for large biological macromolecules and complexes, as well as cellular components. At CSHL, the Cyro-EM Facility offers researchers access to a cutting edge instrument that can be applied broadly to study macromolecular machines.

DNA Sequencing

The DNA Sequencing Shared Resource provides access to high throughput Next Generation Sequencing technologies and to full-service Sanger DNA sequencing using fluorescence-based technology. These combined resources offer cutting-edge technology alongside convenient in-house services for a broad range of genetic analysis.
